Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, registering for, or using the Exo2STL web application, dashboard, APIs, or conversion tools (collectively, the “Service”), you (“User”, “Customer”, or “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you are using the Service on behalf of a dental practice, dental laboratory, company, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have full legal authority to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree with any provision of these Terms, you must immediately cease all access and use of the Service.

2. Technical Interoperability & Clean-Room Architecture

Exo2STL is built exclusively to provide technical data interoperability between open, standardized geometric container formats (specifically OpenCTM coordinate streams embedded in user-supplied HTML documents) and standard binary stereolithography (“STL”) solid meshes.

The Service operates on clean-room algorithmic principles. Exo2STL:

• Does not decompile, disassemble, or reverse-engineer proprietary software binaries, dynamic link libraries (DLLs), or executable programs of exocad GmbH or any third party;
• Does not circumvent, crack, bypass, or defeat any encryption, technological protection measure (TPM), or digital rights management (DRM) mechanisms;
• Does not distribute or sublicense any proprietary dental CAD software, libraries, or digital tooth libraries belonging to third parties.

3. User Warranties, Lawful Rights & Ownership

You are solely responsible for all files, data, designs, and content that you upload, transmit, or process through the Service (the “Uploaded Content”). You represent and warrant that:

1. You are the lawful owner of, or have obtained all necessary licenses, permissions, authorizations, and consents to access, upload, extract, and convert the Uploaded Content;
2. Your submission and extraction of the Uploaded Content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, or other proprietary rights of any third party;
3. You will not upload any files containing malicious code, viruses, automated exploit scripts, or corrupted payloads intended to disrupt the infrastructure of the Service.

4. Compliance with Third-Party Software Licenses (EULAs)

You acknowledge and agree that your use of third-party software (including but not limited to CAD software, dental design suites, and laboratory scanners) is governed by your own independent contracts, purchase orders, or End User License Agreements (“EULAs”) with those vendors.

Sole Responsibility: It is solely your responsibility to ensure that extracting, exporting, or converting preview files generated from your CAD software complies with the terms of your software licenses. Exo2STL expressly disclaims any duty, obligation, or liability arising from any breach or alleged breach of any third-party license, EULA, or commercial contract between you and third-party software providers.

5. Medical Device & Clinical Validation Disclaimer

Models converted through the Service are generated purely through geometric mesh extraction. A licensed dental practitioner, prosthodontist, orthodontist, or certified dental laboratory technician must independently inspect, measure, and validate all 3D geometries, margins, contact points, and dimensions before utilizing any converted model for diagnostic, surgical guide, orthodontic aligner, crown, bridge, or dental implant manufacturing or patient placement.

6. Healthcare Privacy & De-Identification Requirements

Dental CAD files and HTML previews may contain patient identifiers, case numbers, or practitioner notes in metadata tags or file titles.

• You agree and warrant that you will de-identify all files in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) Safe Harbor or Expert Determination rules, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), or your local healthcare privacy laws before submitting files to the Service.
• You shall not submit unredacted Protected Health Information (PHI) or Special Category Health Data without lawful patient consent or authorization.
• Exo2STL does not act as a covered entity or business associate and does not maintain long-term medical records or diagnostic archives.

7. Data Ephemerality & Automated Cloud Purging

The Service is engineered with an ephemeral storage lifecycle:

• Uploaded preview files and generated STL ZIP archives are temporarily cached in encrypted object storage (Cloudflare R2);
• All stored files are scheduled for automated permanent deletion after one (1) hour from the moment of processing;
• Users may trigger instant permanent deletion at any time via the “Purge Cloud Data Now” button;
• Exo2STL maintains no permanent file archives, backups, or retrieval copies of your geometric meshes. You are solely responsible for downloading and archiving your converted files immediately.

8. Conversion Credits & Billing

The Service operates on a pay-as-you-go credit system. One (1) credit is consumed upon each successful extraction and multi-mesh ZIP generation.

• Auto-Refund on Failure: If a conversion fails due to an invalid format, corrupted geometry, or system error, consumed credits are automatically refunded to your account balance;
• No Expiration: Purchased credits do not expire as long as your account remains in good standing;
• Payment Processing: All transactions are securely processed by Stripe. Exo2STL does not store or process payment card numbers directly;
• Refund Policy: Due to the immediate delivery of digital processing capacity, purchases of credit bundles are non-refundable once activated, except as required by applicable consumer law.

9. API Usage & Security

If you access the Service via programmatic REST API endpoints, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys. Any activity performed using your API key is deemed authorized by you. You agree not to engage in denial-of-service attempts, abusive rate-limiting spikes, or unauthorized scraping.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONVERTED OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, EXO2STL DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE CONVERSION ACCURACY WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC CLINICAL OR MANUFACTURING TOLERANCES, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

11. Limitation of Liability & Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Exo2STL and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, clinic downtime, manufacturing defects, or patient treatment outcomes, arising out of or in connection with the use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for all claims under these Terms shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to Exo2STL during the three (3) months preceding the incident.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Exo2STL and its operators against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or legal fees arising from your violation of these Terms, your Uploaded Content, or your infringement of third-party intellectual property or contractual agreements.

12. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When modifications are made, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document will be updated. Continued use of the Service following published updates constitutes binding acceptance of the revised Terms.
